My pet peeves are "preachy" books. The ones that insist upon a saccharin sweet moral to be learned. Grumpy Gus Learns to Share etc. I do, however, think that most children's writers and publisher genuinely hope that their books will be well recieved by children, rather than simply make a profit.

Hey fabulous post! I found it because it was linked to one of my blog posts. Don't forget, indie musicians started with the same uphill climb. And it took a lot of music makers going indie, and raising quality levels of their work, and really learning the ins and outs of how to make it work, before it became as respected as it is now. Same with filmmakers I'm sure.

The indie author revolution has just really gotten started, but more and more voices are raising together with the same logic you've presented.

Give it a decade, we'll see what people say about indie authors then!

Viva la Resistance!

Hiya!

I think this is the first year that I haven't planned for NaNo. I just.... did not plan. I'm going with the idea that I thought I was going to go with... the very idea that I was hoping (at the end of last year's NaNo) I wouldn't go with. Its going to be a rough ride because so much is in the dark and its getting complicated (continuing along the lines of the Q'lanth 'series') I've been working on.

Um I think the year before last I actually got a couple days in on a completely random story idea I had planned out and changed my mind and started writing another Q'lanth one. So This is my 2nd time being unprepared, I think.

Its actually not that bad really.

*looks around nervously*

I need to come up with NaNo tips and blog them...

Heya FCQ!
How goes it? Things on my end are good... Random, scribbly, and a little chaotic. I'm writing another book (now my 3rd). Makes me wonder how many I'll have by the time a publisher finally says "YES, we'll publisher your novel"!

Free writing is fab. I do it all the time when I am copywriting for clients. I do word association stuff and write down whatever comes to mind. It yields interesting results.

Now, if I can just get myself to stop being such a cynical bitch...

:) Good to see ya still writing.
